Sacred Heart Catholic Church welcomes the community to Magnificat, its Advent choral service dedicated to Mary on Sunday, December 14. The 3:00 pm program takes place in the church at 7th and C Avenue.
The event is a collective effort of the traditional choir, vocal ensemble Musica Vitale, soloists, and 14-piece orchestra, according to Music Director Elena Vizuet.
“We begin with a set of prayers to Mary by Liszt, Grieg, Mendelssohn and Poulenc and conclude with the Song of Mary, the Magnificat, by J.S. Bach who revamped this ancient hymn into a musical gem packed with intensity, tenderness, and excitement,” says Vizuet.
Those attending the service are promised an experience in the power of prayers to Mary and of Mary’s magnificent canticle praising the Lord, all set to beautiful music performed by vocalists who discovered new depths and heights of their abilities during the preparation process.
